I had the incredible opportunity to participate in Deloitte's annual event, Reshape the Now. The event focused on making megatrends work for businesses, covering crucial areas such as Sustainability, Technology, Geopolitics, and Talent & Leadership. These are significant forces shaping our world, and adapting to them is essential for any business aiming to thrive in today's dynamic environment.

As a Partner within Cybersecurity and Country Lead of our Cybersecurity practice in Denmark, I had the utmost pleasure of moderating a dialogue on stage with Joe Sullivan. Joe, the CEO of Joe Sullivan Security and Ukraine Friends, shared his invaluable insights on cybersecurity, AI, digital transformation, and the importance of acting now to remain relevant and resilient in the future. His extensive experience, from being the first federal prosecutor in Silicon Valley dedicated to prosecuting cybercrime to serving as Chief Security Officer at Facebook, Uber, and Cloudflare, brought a wealth of knowledge to the discussion. During RSA week, Joe co-hosted a private event for our company that sparked an energizing conversation around the future of AI-powered security operations. His ability to frame the key questions and draw insights from everyone in the room made it one of the most engaging gatherings we’ve had.

Between me and Anita Sondresen here you're seeing one the world's greatest cybersecurity leaders, namely Joe Sullivan. Joe has an impressive CV, having worked as Chief Security Officer for global super companies such as Uber, Facebook and Cloudflare - not to mention his role as special advisor for president Barack Obama's commission on US national cybersecurity. Even more important - during our talks I learned what a warm, hearty and kind man Joe Sullivan is. That truly raises my respect to the highest levels! As we're wrapping up 3 days of inspiring knowledge exchange, debate and learnings here at Sikkerhetsfestivalen in Lillehammer, for me Joe's contributions as keynote speaker and in the security technology breakout sessions - were my personal highlights! If you're ever looking for a deeply insightful, humble and forward-looking technologist and security leader to learn from and exchange with on matters of digitalization, AI and cyber security - go for Joe! I think Joe inspires more than he might even be aware of himself.

It was Joe's first time here in Norway, but I know I have the whole Norwegian security industry (well I even dare to say all fellow Norwegians) with me wishing you a heartfelt welcome back to us in Norway any time again in the future, Joe!

Had the opportunity to attend Deloitte’s Reshape the Now conference, and one of the highlights was hearing from Joe Sullivan, former Chief Security Officer at Facebook, Uber, and Cloudflare. His talk was packed with insights on AI, cybersecurity, and the evolving role of leaders in this dynamic space.Here are a few key takeaways:1. Data Awareness as a Competitive Edge Joe pointed out that having a clear view of all company data, as required by GDPR, can provide a significant advantage when working with AI. It’s not just about compliance—it’s about being AI-ready and agile in a data-driven world.2. Embracing Change As leaders, especially in roles like CISO, we shouldn't fear change; we should manage it. The pace of technology means that adaptability and proactive thinking are key to staying ahead.3. Cybersecurity: A Critical Priority Joe emphasized that we’re at “cyber war,” underscoring the need to invest equally on the risk side as we do on the development side when working with AI. Security needs to be integral to our innovation efforts.4. Responsible Leadership Matters A strong point that resonated with me was that we can’t count on AI or tech leaders alone to champion ethics. We need responsible business leaders who understand the weight of these decisions.5. Utilizing AI, Not Just Having It Joe noted that not every company needs its own large language model (LLM). The key is figuring out how to leverage existing tech—what we build on top will be the true differentiator.6. AI’s Accelerated Evolution With AI evolving faster than ever, Joe encouraged us not to be bystanders. What seems futuristic today will be reality in just a few years. Staying informed and proactive is essential.

Overall, an inspiring talk that reinforced the need to embrace change, prioritize security, and be thoughtful in how we lead. Thanks to Deloitte for an insightful event!

Joe Sullivan delivered an amazing closing keynote for the 2024 Minorities in Cybersecurity Annual Conference. Using his own career as a backdrop he walked through examples of how he was able to attract, develop, and retain diverse talent and build highly effective diverse teams in each organization he worked for. He shared mishaps and when things did not go so well and why he believed having diverse teams is key to any organization's ability to compete globally. Tapping into diverse talent is necessary for organizations to fill their cybersecurity workforce shortage and Joe's examples offer a path forward.

Attended GDS Group Security Insight Summit in Naples, FL. This was an intriguing topic and one of the best speaking engagements that I have EVER had the opportunity to attend. If you ever have opportunity to see Joe Sullivan speak I highly encourage you to attend.

The room was electric during Joe's keynote! I've never seen such a wonderful reaction from the audience. It was stage to floor throughout. Thank you for sharing your story and an important message!

Joe's presentation was fantastic; he hit so many good points and got my mind running. So much food for thought. I and others were captivated. There were over 200 people in the room and another 1,000 online. Very grateful for Joe making the time for us.

It was a pleasure to host Joe with a group of CISOs during a visit to Sydney, Australia. The question about where ultimate responsibility rests for cyber risk realisation in an organisation keeps CISOs and CSOs up at night, and few have been on the frontline of this fast-evolving landscape like Joe has.He brought incredible insights from his firsthand experience to a lively and relevant discussion about CISOs and accountability. He was generous with his time and showed a clear and genuine interest in hearing from Australian CISOs about the challenges they confront in a different market.
